Daripada Abdullah bin Amru bin Al-'As bahawa Rasulullah SAW bersabda:
"Empat ciri jika kamu memilikinya,kamu adalah munafiq tulen, dan siapa yang memiliki salah satu daripadanya,bererti dia memiliki salah satu daripada ciri nifaq sehingga meninggalkan sifat itu iaitu; apabila diberi amanah dia khianati,apabila bercakap dia berbohona, apabila berjanji dia mungkir, dan apabila bertengkar dia melampaui batas."

Scaffold,Gangplanks and Dome construction

The lorry used to send bamboo from rumpun to hbp

How to tie up the scaffold??

Dome on construction..

Our Dome!

In the studio 100, students arranging decorations

Buluh!

This is before the launching of RUS 101 conference day. All of RUS 101 students gathered and work as one team to fullfill BIG's ambitions. During the progression, we faces a lot of obstacles such as wounded, site to built the dome and also bamboo struts sizes.Some new lessons that all of us learned are;

-bamboo can be shrinked and expand following to the weather
-it is also stronger than steel.
-we must work as one.
-avoid being arrogant and learned to accept others view
-selfishness will lead to failure
-Never give up on trying something!

Those are the main aspects that we should practise in our study field and also community life.

Progress for Exhibition

Today all of us submit our Dymaxion and 1500 Words Paper .I also submit my re-do project 1;Me, My thoughts and I.
From this asignment, I found out that patience and teamwork are important in order to complete the group task.If we need something to ask, we should ask before it will become to late to change our mistakes.
It reminds me about the proverbs; united we stand, divided we fall which means we need to work together to achieve our mission. 1 HBP 1 Mission 1 Aspiration!

On 18/10/2010, It will become a memory (and history I guess) for the HBP's 1st year student .
I am  also the late comer in today studio lecture. Several of us enter the E48b hall nearly 9:30am ( My roomate and I woke up early ok? We perform the subuh prayer also ler=(...)
Yes, it is our fault for coming late and should not make any excuses especially about the bus being late.
However, we had realise our mistakes and yet it is part of learning when we were punished. And I'm very grateful as we are among the brave student who sat on the floor and admitted our own fault. This is because I saw some student who also come late with me and did not even come down to admit their fault. Instead, they are the one who also making the paper ball to throw at us. I don't care about them as it is none of my business. Still this kind of atitude will lead to the bad behaviour someday. I can see that it is related to  responsibility in our actions. If I were given a chance to say what did we felt about being late, that is what will I told in the particular time.

And Gosh! The lecturers still want us working with bamboo again? Whoa, I thought the bamboo seasons had come to an end? The new project is about Scaffold & Gangplank and also the Tensegrity project. ==.
Seems like it will be a very busy week again.Duh!
Hopefully, I will learn something useful for my future.
By the way, my friends and I will be joining an Hour with Toy Musuem =D
I can't wait to see the sequences.

Monday Class: 12/10/10

On the last monday, the class started as usual and we passed up our group abstract paper according to major.Below are the abstract that we made.

‘We Care New Generations’
Architecture is the combination of science and art. The architects will plan, design and review the construction of buildings and structures. The element of UNITE, SHARE, SERVE and SEE are the crucial role in architecture’s world. Architecture did not belong to any specific kind of nations, races or even religions! But it belongs to man kind.
We as the youth group of architecture students believe the eradication of all forms of oppression and repression is only possible with a revolutionary change in the social relations. Now it hardly needs to be reiterated here that we live in the most privileged society materially and economically on earth but we as the new generations need to care and look  from the perspective view of;
  • The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the Nation;
  • The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
  • The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
  • The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
  • The right of every family to a decent home;
  • The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
  • The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
  • The right to a good education.
Architecture is not just creating a space for people to live but it is a designed to help people having decent lifestyle. It is like a musician using song as a story-telling tool, the things that were on people's minds in their everyday lives were given musical form and shared in song, not necessarily for an audience, but as an end in itself.

In the evening,we assembled all the struts and started constructing the dome.
From my point of view, we must have give and take as one team. Fill the environment with supports and helping.If one person become selfish, the dome will never successfully finished.

She found out that she had learn something new in HBP that are really different from her past experience.
She also mentioned about bamboo relation with RUS 101.

The last session ended with FAQ discussions. There's few question asked by Prof Fun Hong Kun from Physic School, Assoc. Prof.Dr Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan from Education School and some students from HBP.

Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

Q:What is the challenging& expecting did you faces?

A: Some of the student got skin problem and to get and logging the mature bamboo
we need to access the clusters by hand.

Looking Back,Looking forward,Jewish Cemetery and Monument

Part 1: Looking Back

It was early of July when I started studying in USM as HBP's Student.
  A lot of new things i have learned in here such as making bamboo sound tools, mask,black box,theaterrette and even celebrating 2010 Merdeka countdown!
At first, I didn't see the uses of doing that and this. Somehow, as the time passing by I realized that it is for my own good.
Through out the learning processes in 101 Studio, a lot of thing I have earned to become a Architect one day.
For example, cutting down the bamboo developed my patience and cautiousness.
While going to site visit in Penang Time Square trained me to think about the appreciation of form,space and shape of the building. The aesthetic value in it is the most valuable and fantastic thing!

In my point of view, this subject is to shine my imagination, creativity and idea.
Furthermore, we got a talk almost every Friday by our studio masters.
From the talk, we learned about personality built, Malaysia Independent day, Unity and others.The studio aims to enable HBP's student to develop and refine the skills they use in the Built Environment construction.Also to give a guidance for skills in  documentation,  communication, design,  developing and  devoted to human welfare, ecosystem and environment will be made to make the jump to transdisiplin 2012.

Part 2: Looking Forward

It wasn't a long time to reach year 2012.
A lot of preparation need to be done as the 2012 prediction about disasters.
Will the student of HBP be busy to built a better craft to survive?
No, it's not just about that but it has something more to deal with.
It is about our own contribution to cope with the year of 2012.
The Malay idiom said "sediakan payung sebelum hujan" which means that get prepared before something happened.

One of the contribution I can made during the 2012 is giving a design for IBU and it's pondok. I will have my own team to help me design them which are from B-tech, Electrical Engineer and Quantity Surveyor disciplines.
They will help me to find and looking the better quality of materials but save in cost.
Architects are usually will be the Head of Project manager, hence, I am responsible to ensure the craft is safe and stable for human being functionality.

Being Architecture student,I should be able to think and made a wise decision on what I have designed. It will be on my own responsibilities to document and presented my work. As the USM Apex's generations, I should practice a sustainability attitude and spirit.It is a value that I have to apply in my aesthetic designs.

Part 3: Jewish Cemetery

At last! We found Jalan Zainal Abidin
The stone showing a declaration of memorial monument
Graveyard monument

 During the visit in the Jewish Cemetery, we took rapid bus from USM and stopped by near the Komtar.
I found out that the graveyards have monument designed. Most of those graveyards are made up of cement and some of them have a marble  paste on it.
The oldest graveyard is in the year of 1906.

Part 4: What Can I Live Behind the Future?

In the future, I will be an architect that works in the architect's firm.
I will have a responsibilities to built and design a green environment.I love living in the fresh air and green surroundings.
So, I think you could guest my monument theme .
 Yes, it's about nature!

My sketches
My computer Drawing
I think my monument would be great to be built and presented.
My monument are built from bamboo,timber,wire and cement.
It will be much adorable with lighting effect during night.

Project 6: Survival Kit on IBU

These are what I have decided to bring on IBU
and it's a must have things

  • Haruan Spray for Burn and Wound :

medical supply are limited and hard to find
  • Eurynones: Potential Herbal-Based antimalarial product:
Malaria is one of common disease happened like Tsunami in 2004
  • Hand-lay up Epoxy Hybrid NanoComposite:
 -  For emergency case where if the floor of IBU damage and need to be repaired
  • A novel Fish Feed with Palm-E additive to enhance the fish fillet:
-To feed fish and produce fresh and healthy fillet
  • An innovative Agro-based Ingredient: Pumpkin Flour as a new generations source of fibre and natural colourant bakery  product, Bread:
-The pumpkin flour has longer shelf life. Hence, it may resist up
to 40 days compared to wheat flour.

So, these are how the inventions are going to use
on IBU during the disaster.

    Urbanity:Penang Time Square

    On last Saturday evening,

                                  my friends and I going to Penang Time Square at Georgetown.
                                                      We reached there by rapid Penang bus.

    At the moment I reached Penang Time Square,
    I thought the place are closed and abandoned.
    Luckily, somebody told us that the building is still under 3rd phase
    and the plaza is the 2nd phase that is newly opened.
    Seriously, the building much different from KL Time Square.
    It is more to modernization and vast design.
    I believed the cost of the building must be reached billions dollars.

    From left: Day view, night view, bottom view, underconstruction building
    We also learnt space,form and node paths.
    Here are some of the examples:

    From left: Escalator, Main sliding door, lift, retail shops

    From left: Paths to bubble lift,bubble lift, pattern in lift, fountains

    After done taking photos and breaking fast,
    we went back to USM .
    It was so tired but really enjoyable.
    Thanks a lot guys!
    Great work!

    On 6th July 2010 our studiomaster gave new project-Black box.
    This is my black box.
    It is what I think about and in my thoughts this box reflects myself.
    From my point of view, the closed box didn't mean that i'm narrowed minded but defensive.
    It also tells that i got a secret identity.

    I got an inspiration from bamboo basket.
    The bamboo are joint together by crochet it like woven mat.

    Secondly, the sketches showed that the corpse
    is place inside the casket.

    The last sketches about
    six members carried the corpse
    to the funeral.
    On the top of the casket,

    2 August 2010: Cube and Human Scale

    At first, we're given an order to draw lines on A3 sheet as in the figure above.
    The first horizontal and vertical line are drew base on our 'jengkal' scale.
    Then, We need to draw human figure using the scale 1:10, 1:50
    and 1:100

    Next, we got to draw as many cubes as we could.
    There's siz type of cube we could see in the figure above.
    • Opacity
    • Transparent
    • Translucent
    • Shape
    • Layer
    • Shadow
    From this activity I learned that the jengkal scale is still used even though  it is from our grandparents old time.

    Dot and Line: Submit!

    After 2 weeks making the dot and line assignment
    I'm so relieve..
    but it didn't satisfied me much as my dot and line
    wasn't much varied with other sizes of pen..=(

    However, I'm really glad because it is my effort after all..
    And Im proud that I can do it!
    I learned that, I need to be patient in what ever project I do.
    Nothing is impossible.
    All I need is some more creative thinking..
